28 mos in 50% new French oak barrels, 50% neutral barrels
This extremely limited production of Cabernet Franc is a beautiful expression of what the grape can achieve at its finest. The bouquet of raspberries and violets is captivating, and the flavors on the palate are equally enticing with just a hint of bell pepper and spice. At Capo Creek we produce this wine by fermentation in high quality French oak barrels rather than in a tank, imparting light notes of milk chocolate and vanilla on the finish. Fermenting in barrels also allows for harmonious integration of flavors, softening of the tannins, and a softer mouthfeel. Elegant and balanced, this one is great for special occasions when you want to impress your friends (or when you just want to drink something soooo good).
Cabernet Franc is one of the parent grapes to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The subtle green characters, which can be overwhelming in some Cabernet Franc grapes, is beautifully expressed in this vintage. Another winemaker favorite.
